MX CROR COURSE

Q: I have a CROR card that is not from an accredited training provider. Is it still valid?

A: The CROR card remains valid until the expiration date on your CROR card. We recommend renewing your CROR certification or qualification status before the expiration date with an accredited training provider.

Q: I took the 5-day CROR training offered by Metrolinx. Is that still valid?

A: If you received a MX certification card between January 2023 to February 2024, it is valid until the expiration date on your card.

If you received a Certificate of Completion between February 2024 to present, it remains valid for three years from the effective date on the Certificate of Completion.

Q: What is the difference between CROR-certified and CROR-qualified?

A: CROR-certified signifies those who have only taken the 5-day CROR course within the Rail Safety Curriculum. CROR-qualified signifies those who have taken additional training programs and evaluations to bedeemed competent to perform essential duties in the Right of Way.

Q: How do I become CROR-qualified?

A: Refer to the Rail Safety Curriculum on the process to become CROR-qualified.

Q: I am a Metrolinx employee and want to take the MX CROR training course. Who should I go to?

A: The Rail Safety Training and Competence team offers MX CROR training to internal Metrolinx employees. Check available sessions and register through Metrolinx University.

Q: When will accredited training providers start offering MX CROR training to the industry?

A: June 1, 2024

Q: When is the cut-off date when only CROR-certifications and qualifications are accepted from accredited training providers?

A: Metrolinx understands that sessions for CROR may already be scheduled with other providers. To prevent scrambling to find sessions by an accredited vendor, we will be accepting cards issued by current CROR providers until the end of July 2024. These will be valid for the three full years indicated. Cards issued in August 2024 and beyond must be done so by a Metrolinx accredited vendor.

Q: How to identify if the employee needs 3 - day MX CROR Recertification or 5 - day MX CROR course?

A: Based on General Operating Rule A (CN CROR)

Q: Can I take the 3-day MX CROR Recertification course if my CROR card is expiring?

A: Only CROR-qualified individuals are permitted to take the 3-day CROR Recertification course. If you have only taken the 5-day CROR course and it is expiring soon, we recommend you retake the 5- day MX CROR course with an accredited training provider to renew your certification status.

Q: I am previously CROR-qualified by another rail company. Is my CROR qualification valid while working on Metrolinx territory?

A: Metrolinx only accepts previous qualifications from CN. Check the “Valid while employed by ”section on your CROR card. If valid while employed by Metrolinx, the card remains valid, and you will be required to take the Metrolinx General Engineering Instructions course to remain qualified on Metrolinx territory.

If valid while employed by another company, we recommend you take the 3-day MX CROR Recertification course to remain qualified on Metrolinx territory
